Hello, it's been a busy busy week for me. 29th Jun marks two first encounters for me. Firstly, my grandma's younger brother passed away and i had to attend the funeral procession. I have never participated in the chinese (buddhist or taoist) funeral procession in my entire life. I wasn't close to this distant relative and probably didn't have much recollection of who he was. But it was still quite sad bcos i just realised that life is short, and wouldn't get to live pass 60 -70 plus. I guess i am quite emotional cos when the relatives started wailing and crying, i had to control myself and not cry with them. Seeing my grandma so wrinkled and fragile, makes me wonder if i will be like her in the future. Then when it was time to go to the cemetry, everybody walked behind the van. This experience made me think more abt making good use of the time that i have, to do the things i want to do and learn.
Secondly, 29th Jun was my first day at work as a banquet waitress at Meritus Mandrain. I dunno why i agreed to work as a banquet waitress just bcos my mother asked her friend to intro me. I just thought of it as gaining experience in the customer serivce sector. I made many mistakes but i didn't have the time to panic bcos i was just too busy doing various stuff. I dun like this job, and i realised that majority of the people who are in the banquet sector are either old people who dun have high education or beng & lian youngsters who probably have O level cert and have to hold 2 jobs. While the rest of them are either trying to earn pocket money while studying part time.
Clearing dirty plates and utensils, serving drinks, refilling drinks, carrying all the freaking heavy plates and cups and etc and dirtying my hands ain't my cup of tea. After my first day of work, I had muscle ache on my arms, shoulders and back. Yes, i'm not that strong physically and my mum told me that i should learn to 吃多一点苦, and treat this job as an exercise for my arms. I used to fail incline flex arm hang in sch, so yeah, carrying all the plates and stacking them up on my tray is really challenging. But so far, so good. I dun see myself working in the banquet sector for long, cos i really dun look forward to this job. Man, i drag myself to work. Gonna switch temp jobs soon.
Recently when i was on the way home from bukit timah after teaching my trainee her piano pieces, i boarded this unique bus. The internal of the bus was refurbished and looked really different from the usual layout. I was trying so hard to take pictures with my hp casually and on many occassions i had to stifle my giggle. I bet the uncles and ladies around me were thinking "This siao zha bor, dunno what she doing with her hp."
